THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SOUTH ALABAMA AWARDS OVER $250,000 TO UNDERSERVED FAMILIES

October 26, 2022 – The Community Foundation of South Alabama (CFSA) is pleased to announce it has awarded $253,635 to 28 nonprofit organizations across its eight-county footprint in Southwest Alabama. These funds support programs that will narrow the opportunity gap present among our local youth.

In a greater effort to aid families, specifically kids, in CFSA’s eight-county footprint, the primary focus areas of grant funding were expanded to include programs that address mental and behavioral health. Other focus areas include family, education, work, racial equity and arts and culture.

The 2022 Closing the Opportunity Gap grantees include Alabama 4-H Foundation, HIPPY Clarke County, Vision Education Program, Women’s Resource Center, MOWA Band of Choctaw Indians, Goodwill Industries of the Gulf Coast, Inc., Ransom Ministries, Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama, Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama, South Baldwin Literacy Council, CARE House, Inc., Washington County Public Library, The Learning Tree, Dwell Mobile, LinVin Scholarship Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Alabama, Inc., Coastal Family Partners, Mobile Area Council Boy Scouts of America, Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo Foundation, Lifelines Counseling Services, Palmer Williams Group, Mobile Area Education Foundation, Build A Better Community, Dream Center Baldwin County, Faith in Action Alabama, Liberty Learning Foundation, Inc., and Mobile Opera, Inc.

“We are eager to fund organizations that are making efforts to close the ‘Opportunity Gap’ in our community,” said Community Foundation of South Alabama President & CEO Rebecca Byrne. “Our funding and support ensure that our children will grow into capable adults who can contribute to a prosperous and sustainable society.
